Chapter Philanthropy and Service
The Seattle Alumnae Chapter participates in several service and philanthropic efforts throughout the year, including both national and local projects.
Zeta Tau Alpha's National Philanthropy - Breast Cancer Education and Awareness - is close to the hearts of all Seattle Alumnae. Annually, the Seattle Alumnae participates in the National Think Pink!® campaign by passing out Think Pink!® ribbons at Seattle Seahawks games ("A Crucial Catch" campaign), Seattle Sounders games, and a few University of Washington events/games. Our chapter also supports the local American Cancer Society® at their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in October, with a focus on survivor recognition.
The chapter also participates in local service projects each quarter. Some are annual efforts, while others are organizations the chapter chooses to support on a rotating basis:
- In the Seattle area, we participate in the Forgotten Children’s Fund gift wrapping event around the holidays. Members help choose and wrap gifts for families in need.
- At our annual holiday party we typically select an organization to support. In past years we have collected food for an animal shelter, toys for children in need, and baby products.
- At the annual Northwest Zeta Day (NWZD), we also select an organization to support, as well as collecting donations for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation.
